Capcom is one of the companies that has announced its presence at the upcoming Gamescom Opening Night Live, the opening ceremony of the fair announced by Geoff Keighley (who is also the coordinator of the Video Game Awards and the E3 Game Critics Awards). In this opening ceremony, we can enjoy important announcements from companies such as Bungie (news about Destiny), Sony, Google Stadia or Microsoft.
Capcom has also confirmed that it will have an important presence with an announcement at the Gamescom conference. In the past E3, the Japanese company only presented Monster Hunter World Iceborne (playable at the showfloor of the fair), so we have reason to think that they have saved the “heavy artillery” for the most important video game fair in Europe. It is very likely that it is a new installment of the Resident Evil saga, well the sequel in the numerical series, that is Resident Evil 8, which could return to the first-person perspective after the wonderful reception that Resident Evil 7 Biohazard has had, or Resident Evil 3 Nemesis Remake (made with the same engine and camera over the shoulder, as Resident Evil 2).
The reasons to think that it will be a Resident Evil, have to do with the Resident Evil Ambassador program, which the company has launched in Japan. This program has sent an email to its members to search for testers for a new game in development. The beta testing process of the new Resident Evil should start around the month of September, which fits us to see the first trailer of the next installment of the saga on August 19; Resident Evil 3 Remake or Resident Evil 8.
Throughout this year we have also been able to enjoy the launch of Resident Evil 0, Resident Evil Remake, Resident Evil 4, 5 and 6 for Nintendo Switch (which also has both Revelations) so it is unlikely that it will be another version for the Nintendo console.
After the success of Resident Evil 2 Remake, the company has launched a series of tweets through its official account in which it has left clues about the development of a remake of the third installment. And it must be remembered that even before the game was launched, the possibility of launching Resident Evil 3 Remake was already considered.
